How the couples compatibility test works
Answer 20 quick questions
Type your two first names, then tap the answer that sounds most like you. If you like, guess your partner's answers too.
Send the link to your partner
Your answers travel hidden inside the link. Your partner opens it on any phone or computer and answers the same questions.
See your result together
You both get an overall score, a score for each area, where you match and where you differ, with a question to talk about for each difference.
What actually makes a couple compatible?
Liking the same movies is nice, but it's rarely what keeps two people close. Over time, these tend to matter more:
- Shared plans: whether you want kids, how you handle money and where you'd like to live.
- How you get through disagreements: talking, taking space and making up afterwards.
- Feeling loved in a way that lands, whether that's hugs, words, time together or help with everyday things.
- Daily rhythms: sleep schedules, social energy and how tidy you like your home.
- Curiosity about your differences, instead of trying to erase them.
That's why this test shows you five areas and the questions where you differ, not just one number. Two very different people can be great together when they understand each other.
The five areas of the test
Each area has four questions. Here's what each one looks at.
Lifestyle
Your everyday rhythm: Friday nights, how you recharge, early mornings or late nights, and how tidy you like your home.
Example: What does your ideal Friday night look like?
Communication
How much you text, how you stay in touch when you're apart, what helps after a hard day and what you need when you disagree.
Example: During the day, how much do you like to text?
Love and affection
Hugs and closeness, how often you like to hear “I love you”, how you show your love and how you like to celebrate.
Example: How do you feel about hugs, cuddles and holding hands?
Plans and values
The bigger picture: money, family plans, where you'd love to live and the traditions you care about.
Example: How do you handle money?
Fun
Date nights, vacation style, surprises and how competitive you get when you play games.
Example: Which date night sounds best?
Compatibility questions to ask your partner
Want to keep talking after the test, or skip the quiz altogether? These open questions work on a date, on a long drive or on a video call.

- How much time alone do you need in a normal week?
- What's a small thing I do that makes you feel loved?
- How do you like to be comforted when you're stressed?
- After an argument, what helps you feel close again?
- How did your family handle money when you were growing up?
- Where would you love for us to live in five years?
- How do you feel about having kids, now and later?
- Which tradition from your family would you like us to keep?
- Which chores do you honestly not mind doing?
- What's the best surprise anyone ever gave you?
- Where should we travel next, and why there?
- What's something new you'd like us to try together this year?
- When do you feel most like a team?
- What's a dream you haven't told many people about?
What to do with your results
- Start with a match. Pick one thing you both love and plan it for this week.
- Choose one difference, not all of them. Use the question under it and listen more than you talk.
- Ask why. The reason behind an answer usually says more than the answer itself.
- Treat it as a snapshot. Answers change with new jobs, moves and seasons of life, so take it again in a few months.

Couples compatibility test FAQ
Is the couples compatibility test free?
Yes. The test is free for both of you. There's no sign-up and no app: you only type your two first names.
Do both partners need to take it?
Yes, that's the idea. You answer first, then send a link to your partner. Your result appears as soon as they finish the same 20 questions, and you both see the same result.
How long does the test take?
About 4 minutes each for the 20 questions. If you also guess your partner's answers, count a couple of minutes more.
Is the compatibility test accurate?
It accurately shows one thing: how often the two of you picked the same or similar answers to these 20 questions. It isn't a science, a personality test or a prediction, and it can't tell you whether your relationship will last. Use it to start good conversations.
How is the compatibility score calculated?
Each question has four answers on a scale. The same answer counts 100%, answers side by side 67%, two steps apart 33% and opposite ends 0%. Each area is the average of its four questions, and your overall score is the average of all 20.
What is a good compatibility score?
There's no passing grade. Two people picking answers at random would score about 58% on average, so anything above that means you lean the same way more often than chance would. A lower score just means you have more to talk about.
Can we take it long distance?
Yes. Everything happens through the link, so you can play from different cities or time zones. Send it by WhatsApp, text, email or any app, and your partner answers whenever they have a few minutes.
Can my partner see my answers before they finish?
No. Your answers stay hidden while your partner plays. Both sets of answers appear side by side only on the result screen.
Is our data stored?
No. Your names and answers travel inside the links you share, after the # sign, and are not saved on SendLove's servers. Anyone who has a result link can see the answers in it, so share it only with each other.
Can we retake the test?
Yes, as often as you like. Tap Take it again on the result screen. Answers change with time, so taking it again in a few months can be fun.
Does the test work for every couple?
Yes. The questions are written for any couple: dating or married, same-sex or not, living together or apart, new or together for years.
What should we do after the test?
Talk about it. Start with a match you can enjoy together this week, then pick one difference and use the question under it. A difference is something to understand, not something to fix.
Ready to see how you match?
It takes about 4 minutes. Start now and send the link when you're done.
